Consensus
Independent sources and systems arriving at the same understanding.
Industry Term
Full explanation
Consensus is the degree to which independent sources, and increasingly independent AI systems, arrive at the same understanding of a brand.
Why this matters
Recognition compounds when sources converge. A brand described the same way everywhere is far harder for any single system to get wrong.
Where this sits
Consensus belongs to Retrieval, Evidence & Consensus, one of the seven layers of the Aingworth Glossary. Information exists, then it is retrieved, then sources are selected, then they corroborate one another, then consensus emerges. This is where Aingworth's Consensus Over Rankings thesis lives.
