AI Visibility Measurement
Tracking how, where, and how often a brand appears in AI answers.
Industry Term
Full explanation
AI visibility measurement is the practice of tracking how, where, and how often a brand appears in AI-generated responses to relevant questions, typically by running a consistent set of prompts across AI systems over time.
It is the umbrella practice, not a single number. Citation share, answer share, and share of voice are each a narrower measure sitting underneath it, isolating one specific behaviour; AI visibility measurement is the discipline of running all of them, on a schedule, and reading them together.
"Consistent" has a specific meaning here: the same list of buyer questions, run against the same set of models, on a fixed cadence, with the model version and the date recorded against every run. That is what makes a change in the numbers attributable to a change in the brand's evidence, rather than to a change in the sample or the model itself.
Why this matters
Measurement only means something if the method is consistent and stated. A number without a documented set of prompts, models, and dates is not evidence.
Example
A basic setup might be twenty buyer questions, run through four AI systems, five times each, once a month — four hundred answers to review every cycle. The rig stays fixed each time, so a move in the numbers means something changed, not that the sample did.
Where this sits
AI Visibility Measurement belongs to Measurement & AI Visibility, one of the seven layers of the Aingworth Glossary. How to know whether recognition is improving. Aingworth defines these plainly and does not adopt proprietary-sounding scoring language that belongs to other tools.
