Entity Consistency

Being represented the same way as an entity across the ecosystem.

Industry Term

Full explanation

Entity consistency is the degree to which a brand, organization, or person is represented consistently, in name, description, and detail, across the digital ecosystem.

Why this matters

It is the technical half of signal consistency. Mismatched names, addresses, and descriptions make it harder for systems to confirm that every reference points at the same organization.

Where this sits

Entity Consistency belongs to Retrieval, Evidence & Consensus, one of the seven layers of the Aingworth Glossary. Information exists, then it is retrieved, then sources are selected, then they corroborate one another, then consensus emerges. This is where Aingworth's Consensus Over Rankings thesis lives.
