Recognition Gap
The distance between how well a brand understands its value and how well others do.
Aingworth Concept
Full explanation
The Recognition Gap is the difference between how clearly a brand understands and communicates its own value and how clearly that value is understood by the people and systems that influence discovery.
Why this matters
Most brands do not have a visibility problem. They have a gap between what they know and what the public record shows. Naming the gap is the starting point of the Recognition Diagnostic.
Where this sits
Recognition Gap belongs to Recognition & Authority, one of the seven layers of the Aingworth Glossary. What Aingworth believes. Recognition is the outcome; authority is the evidence that makes it possible. These are the terms that belong to Aingworth, most of them first set out in Become the Answer.
