Recognition
Being correctly understood and recalled by the people and systems that shape discovery.
Aingworth Concept
Full explanation
Recognition is the ability of a brand to be correctly understood, trusted, and recalled by the people and AI systems that shape discovery and decisions. It is the outcome Aingworth builds toward: not being seen, but being understood well enough to be named.
Why this matters
Visibility asks whether a brand appears. Recognition asks whether it is understood correctly enough to be chosen. A brand can be highly visible and still be misrepresented, miscategorized, or skipped at the moment it matters most.
Where this sits
Recognition belongs to Recognition & Authority, one of the seven layers of the Aingworth Glossary. What Aingworth believes. Recognition is the outcome; authority is the evidence that makes it possible. These are the terms that belong to Aingworth, most of them first set out in Become the Answer.
